Festus has this beautiful royal purplish/blue color on her back that goes down her tail with the under-tips of the feathers (about 2-3 inches) being red. Her main body is red with her wings being green. Her upper mandible is mostly orange with black and the lower is black.
We got her from our breeder in Athens, Georgia because he was trying to get rid of her and we had no idea what she was going to end up looking like. Now keep in mind that we raised her like all the others, we took her out and played with her and cuddled her, but now she just won't have it. The only word to describe her is ALOOF. She's strange because she will go out of her way to search James out in the house, running from room to room until she finds him, and then is content to just sit there. She hates to be petted and throws a fit if you try.
She's real smart too, during the winter we kept her in the house and called her our 'house dog'. She could go wherever she wanted, but she had her two roosting spots (that we lined with papers) and I had a colorful place mat in the kitchen that I put water and food bowls on and she would know to go in there and eat.
One day James and I were in our offices and she came running into our hallway in between our two doors and just stood there squawking. Usually she goes and sees James and goes into see him, but this time she just stood there, staring at us both and squawked. I told James she was trying to tell us something so I went in and checked her bowls, they were both empty so I filled them and went back into my office. She fled into the kitchen, ate till her little heart was content and went to roost for the night. We never heard another word from her! From that night on, I learned the difference between her "Where's daddy" cry and "Give Me Food" cry!
